MONEY MATTERS

Applying through GoldKey Education you will not be required to pay any commissions, placement fees, deposits or administrative fees.

The placement service we render to you is always free to you.

However there are some initial up-front expenses associated with submitting your application, these are the costs of applying for Background Checks, Sealed University Transcripts, TEFL/TESOL training if required, then later arranging for the insertion of the E2 working visa into your passport and your flight to Korea and first months expenses in Korea. These costs are all paid directly to your national Law Enforcement Agency, your University, your TEFL/TESOL training provider and your nearest Korean Embassy. No money at all changes hands between yourself and GoldKey Education or with the EPIK Program or the Korean Education Ministry.

As you will see in these tables you can expect to recover all of your up front expenses by the end of your first month working in South Korea and even show a modest “profit”.  The Up Front Expenditure items are shown as average prices converted into Korean Won - there is a Currency Converter link at the bottom of this page to convert the amounts back to your own currency.

If you are applying for the BiAnnual Intake then items 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 will only be incurred after you have secured a contract offer.

For Direct Placements only 5, 6, 7 & 8 will be incurred after you have secured a contract offer.

WHY DO I BUY A ONE-WAY TICKET?

All airline tickets are valid for up to a maximum of 365 days. This period is counted from the day you commence your journey.

Your 365 day teaching contract begins the day you report for duty at your school in Korea. If you attend orientation when you first arrive in Korea you typically begin your contract 2 weeks after you first left home.

So a return air ticket will always expire before you have completed your teaching contract. Your E2 Teaching Visa enables you to board an aircraft to Korea on a one way ticket as your entry into the country has been pre-approved by Korean

Immigration.

30,000

Please use this Currency Converter to convert the amounts shown above back to your own currency. The currency code for the Korean Won is KRW and the symbol is a letter W with one or two strike through lines . For example to convert KRW2million to US$ you would enter 2000000 from USD to KRW to view the amount in your own currency.

   5.  Visa Application Fee

43,000

*The norm is to receive this with the 1st month salary however Busan MOE only pays this allowance after 6 months. Some Direct Placement contracts refund air-tickets against the official airline Tax Invoice.
